Volcanoes In Illinois!

My students need 15 volcano, tsunami, and landform kits as part of their hands-on science curriculum planned for the year.

I teach in a low-income community in Chicago. My students are easily distracted and require engaging hands-on activities in order to learn.

Currently our science curriculum consists of a science book and some worksheets. This is not good enough! Who can learn science like that? As a student I loved science because we got to dissect animals, touch skeletons and examine rocks, not because I read all about it in a boring text book. I want to re-create that excitement and love with my own students.

Therefore I am requesting several earth science kits for my classroom. These volcano, land formation and tsunami kits will give my students an opportunity to experience this amazing science first hand. They will learn the facts they need to know to move on to the next grade as well as prepare for the ISAT test. Additionally and more importantly they will be exposed to an exciting science program which will foster a love for learning and maybe even create a few future scientists or geologists!

Your donation will change the lives of my students. You will create a learning environment that is not only informational, but fun and exciting. I know my students don't want to read about volcanoes in a book, they want to make them!!! Your donation will make that happen.
