This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
It is imperative to provide young, multilingual learners with accessible, relatable literature that reflects their unique experiences. These books will not only support their literacy development in both English and their native languages, but also help them navigate the complexities of a new culture. By reading stories that resonate with their backgrounds, students will feel seen and valued, enhancing their confidence and engagement in the classroom. Additionally, these resources will foster a deeper understanding of language and culture, allowing students to connect their personal stories with the broader narratives of their peers.
The students in my classroom demonstrate incredible resilience and determination as they adapt to life in a new environment, bringing rich cultural histories and diverse languages.
By providing bilingual resources, we can empower them to embrace their identities, strengthen their language skills, and succeed academically while fostering a strong sense of belonging within our community.
