Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are in a gifted, arts, and technology magnet. They are engaged and excited to learn. They love to create, to argue, to build, to write, to speak, and to make their own decisions. But sometimes, their options to show their learning are limited.
By providing an array of tools to demonstrate what they've learned, the students will produce their most passionate, personal, and powerful work.
If they excel at movie making or podcasts, we can offer them recording tools. If they want to show their learning through art and design, we can give them the tools to be creative. If they want to inspire the environment to creatively problem solve, we can give them picnic blankets and fairy lights. We want our speakers to speak, our techies to tech, our artists to design, and our dreamers to dream.
My goal with this project is to provide a classroom full of supplies to empower the students to choose how they will demonstrate their learning and to feel respected as they decide how they will express themselves and their voices. This project will not only fill the classroom with options to express themselves but also inspire them to be engaged and be themselves.
