This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The new Common Core Standards are a fantastic tool to teach children how to think, instead of teaching test prep! But, are we ready for the tough new vocabulary requirements it brings?
My school is located in between two different housing projects, and as a result the majority of my students come from very low socioeconomic backgrounds.
Despite that, they come to school everyday eager and ready to learn! I am so proud to be around a community of learners who won't let their disadvantages stop them from succeeding!
My Project
That being said, there are difficulties. Although I love the new Common Core Standards, my classroom is not yet prepared to meet all of the standards. That's why I am asking for vocabulary materials. With these materials I can target the intense language standards, and ensure that poor vocabulary won't be the reason my students struggle!
Thank you in advance for taking an interest in myself and my classroom.
I cannot wait to really dive into these new standards, and give my students the opportunities they so deserve!
