My students need new and updated Speech and Language therapy materials that can be used to target vocabulary development and promote a language rich environment.

My Students

Help me show what a positive impact Speech & Language therapy has on our children...especially our PK population!

My students range in grades from PK (3-4 year olds) through 5th grade.

They are students with disabilities that range from speech/language disorders, autism, fluency disorders, and articulation disorders. My students attend a Title 1 elementary school in Florida.

My Project

The resources and materials requested will assist in implementing Speech and Language centers. Children with disabilities often need hands on and interactive learning opportunities to truly grasp and understand our spoken language. Typically developing children need to be exposed to a certain vocabulary word 10-20 times to truly understand it and let it become a part of their knowledge. For my students with disabilities, they will need to be exposed to that same vocabulary words more than 30 times to know and understand it. These learning centers will allow for increased vocabulary development and comprehension.

Speech Therapy is a vital resource and tool for my children to be successful, especially with my early childhood population.

I would like to give all my students the opportunity for more hands on learning centers. I would like the materials for my centers to create a language rich environment as well as promote cognitive growth.
