My Project
Right now in our school, we have one color printer with limited access. If we want to print a quick picture of the student's family or create colorful games to play with the students, we have to go through a long process and email it to our administrator. Additionally, sometimes, we have projects that we want printed for the next week, and administration is gone for the day. These projects might not get printed in time to be used and played with.
Studies show that color-printed educational materials make for brighter students.
In fact, using color in lessons and handouts has been found to increase attention spans by 82% and learning and retention by 78%. Furthermore, colorful materials are 80% more likely to be read and can boost comprehension by 73%. With a color printer for the classroom, I can create with the students class books instantly showing pictures of them. I can make small group games like matching, create a pattern, and find the gold coin behind the letter in color which will help students learn math and literacy skills. They will also be more excited to play the same game repeatedly when the theme on the cards have changed - such as changing building to spring - even though the object of the game has remained the same. Additionally, I can laminate these games for repeated play and use the class book pages as keep sakes for the parents.
