My Project
This proposal seeks funding to enhance the reading resources available for 8th-grade advanced students. The goal is to provide a diverse selection of challenging and engaging books that will foster critical thinking, cultural awareness, and a love for literature. The project aims to cultivate advanced reading skills and prepare students for higher academic challenges.
This project is designed to be sustainable beyond the initial funding period.
The books purchased will remain in the school library for future classes, and the curriculum developed can be adapted and reused. Additionally, the project aims to inspire ongoing investment in advanced reading materials for future students.
As a certified English teacher with a master’s degree in Education, I understand the importance of offering literature that not only challenges students but also resonates with their experiences and broadens their perspectives. "White Bird" is a graphic novel that provides a poignant exploration of themes such as bravery, kindness, and the human impact of the Holocaust. Integrating this book into our curriculum will allow students to explore complex historical and ethical issues in a manner that is accessible and deeply moving.
