Visualizing Math for Better Retention

Help me give my students TI 84 Graphing Calculators for in class use to those that cannot afford them so they can feel included in lessons and help them to visualize math for better retention.

My Project

Technology helps students to visualize math which aids in retention. When a student sees how a small change in an equation can affect the graph, it helps them to visualize math. Current statewide standards require the use of graphing calculators in Algebra 1 and above. Many students cannot afford these calculators so they end up sharing them with other students, making it difficult for them to properly learn all of the features of the calculator. Sharing calculators is not ideal as they cannot focus on the lesson, and they have difficulty learning all of the features of the calculator. Some students feel left out of the lesson, and it is not good for their self-esteem. Having these calculators in my classroom will enable all of the students to have use of their own calculator while in class, and will also give them access to the calculators after school to assist them with their assignments.

Please help my students who cannot afford one, to each have their own graphing calculator for in class use, so math becomes visual for them, and helps them to better retain the information.

These calculators, along with the few that I already have, will enable all of my students to properly participate in the lessons, making the lessons go much more smoothly, and making the students feel included in the lessons. Thank you for your consideration in funding my project.
