it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The specific items we are requesting—classroom sets of Maus I and Maus II—will significantly enhance our students' understanding of the Holocaust and World War II, providing them with a deeply human and visually compelling narrative that will resonate with them on both intellectual and emotional levels.
By integrating these graphic novels into our curriculum, we aim to create a more engaging and accessible approach to learning about such a complex and sensitive subject.
Maus allows students to connect with the personal stories of survival and trauma in ways that traditional textbooks often cannot, fostering empathy and offering a more visceral understanding of the historical and human experiences of the Holocaust.
Our goal is to encourage critical thinking about history, memory, and representation, while also providing students with a safe space to discuss the difficult emotions these topics elicit.
