My Project
My students are incredible humans in every sense and it is so important to me to help keep them balanced in terms of their mental health, learning, and success in all areas. So much of our focus in schools is literacy and a part of where I come in is making sure they have the tools and knowledge to seek out their goals for life after graduation. I need to ensure they not only have access to post-secondary opportunities and information but that they understand all of the components of how it will affect them, what opportunities can be provided, and how to weigh out the cost benefits of their educational investments.
Having access and agency to becoming financially literate serves as a base for students' future endeavors- a crucial step to creating a successful balance between making sound financial decisions and creating healthy choices that are fueled by their passions and interests.
Each kid is unique, and so is their journey!
I'd like to have a swivel monitor to be able to better show each student their data in our real-time conversations. To best protect all kids, my computer screen is often kept confidential. By having a swivel screen I can share with them their relevant personal data, current plans, goals and results, their own data points and materials, while I lead them through a multitude of other materials including budget sheets, Individualized College and Career planning materials and how to work to become more financially literate. Feeling good about your plans and confident in your goals after graduation is a wellness gift!
