This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are some of the most hardworking, kindhearted people I know. Sixth grade is a growth year for sure as they transition from upper elementary to middle school. The coronavirus pandemic has added another dimension to an already trying year. Students are working hard through our curriculum independently but require assistance.

While our district-issued computers do have software for remote learning, I am seeking assistance to receive a document camera.

The software we use for remote learning has share screen capabilities, but it is "clunky" to maneuver the chat, my screen, and field student questions while doing so. A document camera would allow me to work out, in real time, clear examples from my personal laptop while also hooked up to the district laptop. It would create a dual-screen for me so I could record myself on one computer from the other.

My Project

The document camera would allow me to video and project myself working through student work in real time. With its flexible neck and sleek design, the Hue HD Pro could zoom in and out on my second computer screen, allowing me to see more of the student chat while screencasting the district-issued laptop.

In addition to the document camera, I am requesting several Big Fat Notebook books for reinforcing visuals on our current topics of study.

All of our manipulatives and anchor charts remained in the classroom during quarantine, and it's hard to reference let alone find appropriate online materials. The wireless mouse would allow me to work on the laptop faster than using the trackpad. I hope for efficient use of time and resources as we near the home stretch of the academic year!
