This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Imagine being unable to follow a class schedule or understand directions that are written. My students are primarily visual learners and benefit from visual schedules and other organizers that help them navigate through the school day.

I am privileged to teach 4th and 5th grade students with multiple disabilities in a self-contained classroom.

Our school is located in a low-income area with a majority of second language learners. My students are greatly challenged when attempting to access grade level curriculum. Many struggle to retain concepts and therefore perform far below grade level. While they are eager to learn new things, they need additional supports to access the core curriculum and meet grade level standards.

My Project

My students have special needs and do not process information in the same manner as your average student. I am requesting Boardmaker Studio - CD for Windows software to create visual schedules, posters, and other organizers. These resources will help my students follow the class schedule and navigate through the school day more easily. The software also allows them to interactively access core concepts with visuals to help retain information.

Having access to visual schedules, charts, and other organizers will help my students understand class procedures and academic concepts more easily.

Since they approach learning more visually, it is important to provide these additional resources to aid in their learning. Thank you for your support!
