Visual Thinking Strategies = Very Thoughtful Students!

My students need the first year curriculum and materials for Visual Thinking Strategies, grades 1-5

My Students

The longer I teach, the more I realize that KNOWING how to think and express that thinking are imperative for student success.

My students all have at least one disability.

Many of them receive speech services as well as academics with me. Thinking and speaking don't come easily, and writing is even more challenging! Our urban school serves children in regular, behavioral, and designed instruction classrooms, grades K-6. Because our overall SES is high, we have fewer resources available than other schools in our city.

My Project

My weekend job has provided training in Visual Thinking Strategies with a nationally-recognized trainer at our local museum. I LOVE using VTS with my weekend students! They are becoming discriminating, creative thinkers and communicators. (And I am becoming a better listener!) I would love to use VTS in my public school classroom. It will not only promote thinking and reasoning, but verbal and written communication.

VTS is a finely-tuned technique, easily adaptable to other mediums (such as text).

These materials will not only help my students, but will make me a better teacher. Everyone wins!
