This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Often times, life science can be a very abstract subject for Kindergarteners. Hearing about different phenomena, animals, places, plants, and the universe requires complex understanding and access to visual representation for internalization of the concepts in question.
Here is where visual resources are key: students are overexposed to videos and “fast” information coming their way from a screen in many different scenarios; I am seeking to provide them with free exploration time through image viewer slides, which contain still images of the topics they learn about in Science, but they can self-pace, wonder about what they are looking at, pay attention to detail, and generate their own questions.
