Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students live in Queens, New York. Many of them live in apartment buildings and need support with the English language. Their literacy skills really improve when they hear a fluent reader read out loud because then they get to repeat with fluency! They also respond to engaging content experiencing the world outside of their apartment! Scholastic magazine, especially the digital aspect, provides them with what they need! = )
My Project
I work with second graders in Rego Park, Queens. In math we work for many months trying to understand our base ten system!! Having the base ten blocks on magnet boards will help my students manipulate the blocks without losing them, or dropping them, while trying to keep track of their place values! Keeping with organization, I figured we can use the seat sacks to get some of the mess out of our desks! These seat sacks will help keep the kids from having their supplies drop all over the floor! = )
