This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students live in a world of poverty - with a stunning view of the city skyline.

These children are brave and resilient.

Some of the children sleep in cars or storage sheds. It can be very difficult for them to see beyond the sad reality of their surroundings. They need hope and they need something to strive toward. As their Art teacher, I want to show them the wonder and beauty of the world beyond this concrete jungle.

My Project

With a classroom projector I can "take" my students anywhere in the world. They can learn of Ancient Egyptian Art on a virtual tour of the Pyramids at Giza. We can "walk" the halls of the Louvre together in Paris. Vivid images of nature will inspire their artwork and bring science into the studio. Also, they will finally be able to see my how-to demonstrations up close, as I will be connecting the projector to a webcam. Gone are the days of, "Mrs. K, I can't see that!"
