This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach high schoolers in a Life Skills program, and every single one of them brings something special to our classroom community. They thrive when given hands-on, real-world experiences—and one of the best ways we support their growth is through field trips and community based instruction. Whether we’re exploring the city, practicing job skills, or simply learning how to navigate the world around us, these outings are powerful learning moments.

This screen printing machine will help us in two major ways.

First, it will allow my students to create and wear matching t-shirts on our field trips, helping keep our group visible and safe. This is especially important for students with disabilities who may struggle with transitions or overstimulation in public spaces. Second, designing and printing the shirts themselves gives students a sense of ownership, teamwork, and creativity. They'll be learning real-life vocational skills while also building pride in being part of something bigger.

Our ultimate goal is to take a once-in-a-lifetime trip—maybe to Disney or even on an educational EF tour—and this project is one more step toward that dream. With your help, we can keep our students visible, united, and safe while they explore the world with confidence.
