My Students
My English 1 classroom is a place where students are asked to push their boundaries. Students spend this year learning the foundation of knowledge and skills they will need as they move forward in advanced studies.
The students are 9th graders are in a South Carolina classroom.
They are excited to explore the world of high school literature, to learn about the classics, and to expand their capacity for critical thinking. They take pride in their efforts and are willing to challenge their minds for the sake of learning.
My Project
My English 1 students will read the memoir God, Dr. Buzzard, and the Bolito Man and learn about the enduring Gullah Geechee literary and cultural legacies.
Natalie Daise's virtual presentation “An Introduction to Gullah Culture” A journey through the stories, songs, language, history and culture of the Gullah community is an interactive presentation that will bring to life the literature we have been studying.
This is an important opportunity for students in the time of COVID to interact and learn from a powerful story teller, artist, and leader in our community.
