My Students
My students come from a variety of different backgrounds. It is an ethnically diverse population. Students speak a multitude of different languages such as Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, and Arabic. Over 90 percent of my students come from low income households with single family homes. Despite their challenges they all come to school eager to learn daily. They are inquisitive, creative, and thrive to do their best. Our school is using STEAM activities to get the students ready for the 21st century.
My Project
Virtual reality opens up new and exciting opportunities for all students. The Quest allows this special experience without needing a powerful PC or cellular phone. The Oculus will help students understand complex subjects and allow many field trips.
We will use Google Expeditions with the Quest to transport students to far away and even inaccessible parts of the planet.
Students can explore Machu Picchu, outer space, or even the deep sea.
Students can get more hands-on lessons which increases their understanding of all topics.
This technology would reach across many grade levels and many academic levels of students.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
