My Project

Social-emotional learning (SEL) is the way children and adults acquire knowledge and skills that impact their ability to manage emotions, set and achieve goals, and manage behavior. Integrating SEL strategies can support instruction and have a positive impact on academic achievement.

Social-emotional learning (SEL) focuses on students' fundamental needs for motivation, social connectedness, and self-regulation as prerequisites for learning.

SEL describes the mindsets, skills, attitudes, and feelings that help students succeed in school, career, and life.

I want my students to be able to experience exploration, exercise, and meditation virtually with the help of this device, which will in turn provide them with the experience and skills in real life. With your help, my students will have the opportunity to escape their everyday lives and to have unique experiences that are only capable through the virtual reality device.

The virtual reality headset will help students engage in social skills through real-life practices. These lessons will include peer interactions, appropriate and effective communication, and responding appropriately to social cues. Virtual reality lessons will also make it easier for students with disabilities such as autism, who may struggle to interpret nonverbal cues or to focus on a skill the teacher may teach in a lesson. Virtual headsets will provide scholars with an opportunity to take a guided mental break to relax, calm down and even move their bodies if desired. This time can be used to meditate, practice mindfulness and breathing techniques, and even practice yoga. In addition to using the virtual reality headset for calming techniques, they can also be used to go on virtual field trips to explore nature, and even participate in physical activity to get moving around.
