This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The use of VR headset (Meta quest 3) is an enhanced learning and innovative experience .VR offers students a range of benefits that supports therapeutic goals. Currently students are limited to pencil and paper, braining storming and watching videos to conceptualize how money management, LB dressing tying shoes, engaging in deep breathing exercises, and calming techniques. Additionally, I copied print out questions and answers with shopping, purchasing items, organizing items by name, creating schedules, bus times, reading maps, creating envelopes. While somewhat effective for a few students it has been difficult for other students because they cannot effectively and consistently practice these skills because of the limitation with worksheet assignments and the cost.

By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.

Students will be able to engage in an immersive world virtual trip, mediation spaces, and engage in Activities of daily living dressing activities, cleaning, cooking activities.

While engaging in these immersive games students will be able to enhance hand-eye coordination, grasping and precise movements, sensory integration using all senses allowing students to gradually adapt to sensory stimuli in a safe adjustable environment especially for students w/ (SPD). Many VR games require planning and sequencing tasks to solve complex problems. Therapy can sometimes feel repetitive, or challenging VR makes it fun and motivating. Real life scenarios such as cooking, classroom, park etc. will help build independence and life skills in a controlled low-pressure environment before applying them in the real world. Students can work on communication and collaboration and social interaction skills, (students with ASD). VR systems can be tailored to each student’s specific needs. Overall, the immersive nature of VR allows students to practice relaxation techniques in calming environments.
