My students need Apple iPod touches, the escape robot kit, and a new color laser printer for the new computer science/technology center that we are trying to incorporate into our classroom.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are some of my favorite little human beings! They come to school every single day with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. As a Title I school, the majority of my students are on free or reduced lunch.
Many don't have the materials necessary to take on the school day.
I strive to find ways to make my classroom feel like home and provide every student with what they need to be successful today and in the future.
My Project
Recently my co-teacher purchased new AR virtual reality goggles in hopes of incorporating a virtual reality math lab into our classroom. This school year we have put effort and focus into exposing our students to STEM and computer science. With the AR reality goggles we need to get Apple iPod Touches in order to download the math lab games for our students to use. With the iPod Touches and the AR goggles we already have, we can set up a virtual math lab. The population we serve is low income and language barrier is an obstacle for our students.
Incorporating technology supersedes the language barrier and allows ELL learners to become fluent in basic math applications that they will use now and in the future.
Computer science is a fun and innovative tool to merge classroom instruction with STEM application seamlessly. The escape robot kit, lets kids built and do battle with their own R.C. tank and learn all about circuitry and electronics. Finally, the color laser printer will allow us to keep parents updated on our projects with newsletters as well as print paper materials for the rest of our centers.
