My Students
In my self-contained special education classroom, there is a community of learners of diverse backgrounds, learning styles, and grade levels. They are kind, resilient, and exceptional students interested in a wide range of activities from urban planning to basketball.
Your gift will give my students with disabilities the opportunity to learn in ways that best fit their needs and to engage in a full range of STEM activities from home.
The students in my special education class have mild to moderate intellectual, cognitive, and physical disabilities. Our class is made up of 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students. Each student is unique, creating a diverse group of learners in my class with varying interests, strengths, abilities, and learning styles.
As a special education teacher, I work every day to find solutions and resources to help develop my students' academic, communication, and social skills while keeping them safe from COVID-19.
My Project
We are exploring a unit in our STEM class that will make us experts in Immersive Media like virtual reality, augmented reality and other smart technology. We have virtual reality headsets in school, however, students who are participating remotely will not have access to them. I want to provide my students who are engaged remotely with the most fun and full VR experience from home. I would like to get and mail out 30 cardboard virtual reality headsets to my students studying from home, so students can use with their smartphone to experience the world of VR.
