Virtual Reality Experiences Leading to Community Service Impact

Help me give my students global, interactive experiences on VR headsets that will provide them opportunities to develop empathy for and a desire to take action toward the global goals for sustainable development.

My Project

For the last two years, I have taught a global unit with my students that involves exploring several of the Global Goals for Sustainable Development. We spend time focusing on the goals for no poverty, zero hunger, clean water and sanitation, and reduced inequalities.

This year, I want to provide my students with opportunities that will allow them to develop deeper levels of empathy and a desire make an impact.

Our culminating activity in the unit is going to be for my students to develop a community service project that will allow them and others to have an impact on a global goal of their choosing.

We are requesting a five year subscription to the ClassVR Portal, which includes access to thousands of engaging and global virtual reality resources, as well as the ability for students and teachers to create, upload and share their own content, creating a collaborative community of global educational resources. Traveling around the world virtually will give my students global exposure to other cultures and countries allowing them to experience first hand the need for us to get involved.

Sponsoring our request will help my students not only develop a deeper understanding of global needs but also help them to develop the empathy needed to develop a community service project that will impact others.
