Virtual Learning Requires Technology

Help me give my students a better virtual experience with a new laptop for our virtual classroom meetings.

My Students

I have 150 students in the ninth and eleventh grades. The school that I work at in Chicago Public Schools has some absolutely brilliant students. Unfortunately, the way the school system is run in Chicago is not equitable for all students. Our students deserve much more than they are getting. Our school has been incredibly successful in preparing students for college and their career, despite the obstacles put in place by the system.

The high school that I work at is located on the South Side of Chicago in a stable neighborhood.

It is a neighborhood public school that many parents want their students to attend because it is well organized and run well.

During this pandemic my students learning is now virtual. Many of my students have access to technology but some do not. My school is working hard to get students laptops for those who are need so we can continue to educate them. With our limited access to technology and the internet, we are trying hard to use Google Meets for lessons, to answer questions, and to check on each other.

My Project

To successfully continue to educate my students during this pandemic, I am doing remote virtual learning. I am attempting to meet with my students using Google Meets and teach them lessons, answer their questions and check on them. My school district does not provide laptops to teachers and I am using a very outdated personal computer with my students right now virtually. This new MacBook Pro would make it much easier for me and much more beneficial for my students while we are in the process of virtual learning.

A new MacBook Pro with protection plan will allow me to greatly enrich my students' virtual learning.

I will be able to virtually communicate with my students in Google Meet without the video freezing mid-lesson. I will also be able to post assignments for my students much easier. I will be able to share my screen and show students the assignments and resources that I am talking about without my computer crashing.
