My students have been identified with language-based disabilities, and have extreme difficulties with executive functioning skills. They are hard-working and focused learners, striving to succeed at the middle school level. It is not always easy for them due to their challenges. Our school is an inner-city, in a low-income area, where many assistive materials are not readily available.
My students have excellent attendance, demonstrate responsibility and diligence when attempting academic tasks, and have already set future goals.
I want to provide them with the best reading intervention I can during the remote learning phase of this school year. I'd like them to feel as comfortable and familiar as they would be when utilizing my classroom daily in our building, feeling calm and secure, while developing and strengthening their academic skills to be successful.
My Project
Because our school will take place remotely for most of this school year, my special education students will be missing that face-to-face time in the classroom and with me. I want to create a remote learning environment that mirrors the actual school setting as closely as possible.
The document camera, wireless headset, and drawing tablet will provide my students with the best instruction to allow them continued progress, improving their reading and writing.
Students will be more engaged and motivated to learn. These materials will make learning as comprehensive and interactive as possible for my students.
