My Students
My students receive free breakfast and lunch. As a new Gifted and Talented teacher for grades 2nd-5th. I teach over 50 students at two inner-city schools that are surrounded by high poverty, crime, and low economic status. At one of my schools most of my students live in public housing and in a single-family household.
We have a high population of African- American and English Language Learner students.
The students are always eager to learn, respect authority and place a high value on education.
My Project
Teaching this year will be different from past years. The school district decided not to open school as usual due to COVID- 19. We will be teaching virtually. I need a flip chart presentation easel, dry erase board, sentence strips, and other supplies to make the transition. A flip chart presentation easel will display my dry erase board. The dry erase board and Sharpie markers will help me model what my students need to do and help them complete learning objectives. The large self stick posted pad paper will display anchor charts, study guides, drawings and math word problems. I will use the sentence strips and index cards to display learning objectives, vocabulary, and weekly spelling words.
A headset with a microphone will help my students hear me clearly and stay focused on assignments.
A portable and height adjustable laptop computer stand will help me better teach my students physical activities and science experiments as if we were face-to-face in a regular classroom setting. The stick pins and command hanging strips will help me display learning posters, math equations, and much more. Hopefully, my gifted and talented students will become more productive, master teaching objectives, and enjoy the virtual learning experience.
