My Students
Our school has always focused on the traditional academic course offerings and has only now begun to branch out into innovative electives to captivate students. Among these electives is our Broadcast Media class which inspires our students to become active media producers rather than just consumers.
Our student population consists almost entirely of teens from low socio-economic families.
Unfortunately education is not one of the priorities emphasized in most of their homes. As a staff our teachers work tirelessly to inspire our students to dream big, to have goals, and to learn the skills necessary to go out into the world and achieve them. We stress the importance of a good education as an essential tool for navigating life's obstacles. Opportunities for success are limited for our students, and we do whatever we can to foster an environment where success is attainable, not just in a classroom but in everyday life.
My Project
Our students use cameras and laptops to shoot and edit videos. What they lack is the ability to create multi-camera live productions. This switcher would allow them to experience the thrilling complexity of live television. Our school has a successful athletics program and we have begun streaming our games online using a single camera. A switcher would allow us to shoot events from multiple angles and give students experience as directors and technical directors, utilizing teamwork and leadership skills in a unique environment that only television production can provide.
A switcher will allow our students to broaden our media program and create limitless possibilities to produce high quality, entertaining programming.
It opens the doorway for producing news programs, sports presentations, theater productions, graduation ceremonies, and more. It will facilitate real world experience with working in a production environment, which our students can take with them for the rest of their lives.
