This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I have begun to offer entry level classes in video production/cinematography at our high school, and the students have been extremely enthusiastic! As a film school graduate myself, I am thrilled to help develop the skills of these young movie makers and broadcasters. Unfortunately, there is virtually no budget for electives at our school.
Your contributions will give my students the basic equipment needed for me to teach them the essentials of film/video production: lighting, sound, cinematography, etc.
This equipment will allow me to leverage the powerful technology in their smart phones to produce myriad types of content: newscasts, documentaries, video blogs, short movies, and more.
My students are extremely underserved and underprivileged. They have the same creativity, intelligence, and ambition as their counterparts in more affluent school districts, but they lack the resources necessary to reach their full potential. They have powerful stories to tell; they just need a little help to amplify their voices.
