My students need a digital camera so that they can produce videos that relate to content standards in science and language arts. I just recently attended training in both iMovie and Final Cut Express. I want very much to incorporate technology into the student's learning, giving them the responsibility to create their own videos.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Follow your passion and dreams by doing what you love. I love technology and integrating it into the classroom!
I teach 1st grade and my students are on the wrong side of the digital divide, lacking resources and money to even have a home computer, much less access to a video camera.
Children love to be on film. But how exciting would it be for them to be able to video tape each other and relate it to content standards, making those standards come alive!!
Last year, I used my digital still camera, which also has a rather cheap movie camera on it, and made a 38 minute slide show of the events throughout the year. The students LOVED it. This year, after a couple of movie training classes, I am ready to jump into giving the students the responsibility of movie making and teaching them the nuts and bolts of writing, acting and filming to make a group project they can be proud of.
Your donation will give my economically disadvantaged students a chance to close the digital gap with students their age in wealthier schools. Students their age who attend schools that have active PTAs have technology advantages that my students can only dream about. I have overhauled 4 PCs and with a digital camera, I can begin to feel that I am doing what I can to help these students compete in a computer/digital world.
