This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch based on the socioeconomic status of our school population.

Despite the many challenges they face, my students are motivated to learn!

Many of my students are one to two years below reading level and are receiving intensive interventions in my classroom. However, with these interventions and individualized guided reading lessons, my students feel empowered to reach their full potential this year. We have a lot of work ahead of us, but I know with your help, we can reach our goals.

My Project

In addition to making gains in reading, my students have been working hard all year on their writing skills. They have made so much progress that they are now typing their published pieces. This is incredible for 2nd graders! They would like to start adding photographs to their informational pieces and have said that a color printer would make these published pieces look even better! I couldn't agree more. Having a color printer also will create a sense of pride in my students and add a splash of color to our bulletin boards. Additionally, a wireless color printer will also allow my students to print right from their computer. This will make publishing easier for everyone!
