Help me give my students visual supports to enhance their learning every day!
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Marber's classroom raised $294
This project is fully funded
My Students
Our class is comprised of eight, amazing students with autism across three grade levels who learn in many different ways. Our students come from different wards from within DC, not just from the surrounding neighborhood. Our class is a self-contained classroom, which means that the majority of each students' learning takes place within our room. Many of our students also receive some instruction in the general education setting and are able to interact and socialize with their typically developing peers throughout the day.
Autism is a developmental disability that affects the way our students interact and communicate with others.
Autism is a spectrum disorder and our students' skills and abilities fall all over the range of the spectrum. We have students who are approaching grade level academically as well as students who are not yet communicating verbally. Each of our students is unique and has their own strengths, gifts and support needs. All of our students need support in the areas of communication, behavior, social interaction and daily living skills.
My Project
Many people with autism benefit from the use of visual supports in addition to being taught verbally. Visuals provide a second layer of input so that there are multiple options and ways a student can take in information. Our class is requesting clip art bundles created by other teachers to be used in the creation of classroom visuals.
Bright and vibrant clip art will improve the visual supports that we are able to create for our students across multiple topics and themes.
We are requesting clip art related to the alphabet, colors, months of the year, and 2D and 3D shapes. Many of our learners are working on early learner concepts and these clip art bundles will allow us to create beautiful and meaningful visuals to support their learning.
