This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In the fall I will be teaching Robotics to my students. I teach at a Title I school. My school consists of students from a low socioeconomic status, where more than 90% of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. There are a limited number of resources for my students to get enough of the supplies we need for the robotics program.
In order to give my students they best experience with robotics, my school is in need of additional robotics supplies.
With a sufficient amount of supplies, my students will be able to work in smaller groups thus receiving greatest learning impact.
My goal is to introduce my students to Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEAM) to prepare them for applicable careers. I want ensure that all students regardless of the socioeconomic status should be provided with high level thinking opportunities and activities in school.
My Project
My project proposal is to introduce students who to a complete robotics program with the necessary equipment for full implementation. Prior to implementation students will be introduce to coding which they will use in robotics programming. In order to do this, I will need to obtain a Vex IQ Super Kit and Competition Add-On Kit. Students will use this kit to design, build, and code a robot to perform a variety of functions and solve problems that are given to them.
These supplies for my project will improve my project tremendously.
Vex Robotics inspire students to be problem solvers of tomorrow. The robots are easy to design and build. It allows students to use their creativity as they solve problems. Students use their computer to program the robot using the RobotC Programming Language. With this language, students code and control the robots they build. This technology will support my students by allowing them hands on accessibility to robots. They will also
apply problem solving , critical thinking skills, and prior knowledge of coding to control the robots.
