This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Vertical non-permanent work surfaces (VNPSs) promote increased student agency greater risk-taking when solving problems and prevent students from disengaging (Building Thinking Classrooms, 2020).
When students work in groups of 3 on rich problem-solving tasks while standing at a VNPS, traditionally passive learning spaces are transformed into active learning spaces where students think, and keep thinking, for the duration of the class period.
By providing flexible classroom work arrangements, students are able to work better in groups with their peers, engage in difficult problem-solving tasks more effectively, and become independent thinkers.
