My students are from a community school located in Queens, New York. They come to school from various cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds. Each day, my students come to school with the energetic spirit to learn, and to be exposed to a curriculum that they can benefit from. Some of my students have special needs and require extra support to assist them in their learning. My students are our tomorrow judges, doctors, community service workers, teachers, nurses, etc. My students are super sweet and deserve all the support and learning materials that are necessary to help them learn and interact with the curriculum.
My students are special in their own individual way and will benefit from using different sources/multi-sensory teaching to address their learning styles.
They are in sixth grade. They are diagnosed with different disabilities - learning disabilities, social/emotional disturbance, speech and language impairment, other health impairment and/or similar disabilities. They will benefit from small group instruction by having a kidney table to assist with small group instruction and their learning. The kidney table will support my students to sit close to one another, making it ideal for small group instruction.
My Project
The kidney/horseshoe table will be used for small group instruction, which will support my students with the versatile option of learning in my classroom. Working with small groups of student on the kidney/horseshoe table will give students the opportunity to connect their ideas to one another, support students with higher order thinking skills, give students more of a comfortable space to share out their thinking, and motivate students to learn and retain the material taught. The kidney/horseshoe table will make a difference in my classroom, allowing students to communicate and have a connection with their peers.
