My students are eager to learn how to take care of nature by reducing food waste through vermi-composting with Red Wiggler Worms.
My first grade students are natural scientists that are eager to explore the world around them!
They enjoy wondering and investigating. For example, while working in the school garden today, one student asked, "I wonder why the worm's skin is sensitive to light." They also enjoy recording and sharing what they learn by drawing detailed pictures and writing in their science journals. Most of all, they are adept at extending their learning by teaching others what they discover.
My Project
We are requesting a worm farm, journals, and pencile to learn about vermicomposting, waste reduction, and gardening. We will be using our worm composting system to recycle vegetable, fruit, and paper waste throughout the school year. The worm castings and compost tea will be used in our school garden to fertilize plants naturally. Additionally, we will be studying the life cycle of worms in our Life Science unit.
Your donations will make a profound difference in my students' lives since they will gain first hand experience reducing food and paper waste, improving our soil, gardening, and caring for our planet.
