This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My school is rapidly changing from mostly homogeneous families to more multicultural families. In the library, we would love to have more books about people from diverse backgrounds to add to our library collection. Our students are especially interested in the Hispanic culture and I have chosen books and decorations to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and Dia de los Muertos.
I am requesting new books in English and Spanish featuring Latin authors/characters, and decorations to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and Dia de los Muertos.
Many are picture books, but the biographies are greatly needed. We also need politically correct Hispanic heritage decorations (no more mustaches or negative stereotypes, please).
The more cultures and races our students are exposed to, the more likely they are to build social connections in our community and increase empathy for others. Please help our students learn more about our school family and our world by supporting this project. Thank you!
