Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students with Autism are part of a school community of approximately 1,400 who attend school eager to learn. They enjoy learning vocational, social, motor, and academic skills daily. My students are inquisitive, passionate, eager, and motivated to learn independently.

My Project

We use velcro on a daily basis. My students utilize velcro on their visual schedules, teacher-made learning materials, and projects that are posted on our classroom walls. Velcro is also used for students who have sensory issues. It's applied under their desk for them to rub their hands over it and it provides them with a calming sensation. Velcro has many applications and we utilize them daily. In my classroom, velcro is the only item that helps hang our objects without falling. To this teacher, students, and paraeducators - velcro is life!
