My Students

Can you imagine a computer with missing letters? Until recently, I have worked around it...but now I am missing the letter "C". Everything...is .com!

My students are an eager group of English language learners.

They attend a free lunch school and rely on us for many of their needs. Most do not have access to a computer at home. Due to the hours that their parents work, they are unable to go to the library. Although they find using the computer a treat, I am unable to provide them with this luxury! This lack of exposure is not only detrimental to their technological growth which is needed for them to compete in today's society, but it is also not allowing them to utilize the school's math program.

My Project

We need a MacBook Pro laptop computer and care plan so my students can access their math program. Getting a computer would allow me to utilize the Envision math program that was newly adopted by the district. The district has trained me to use a phenomenal math program and has provided our class with all of technological resources pertaining to the program. It comes with resources to teach the gifted, special education students, and the English learners too. The online component has .com in the address...and now my letter "C" won't work even when I wiggle it! Can you imagine having the state of the art program in your room and lacking a computer to support it? If I had a computer, it would better reach all of my learners! In addition, it can provide independent practice of the basic math facts such as multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction. These are the foundation of math and many of my students are lacking! My students would also like to be able to create PowerPoint presentations for other subjects too!

Please help me get a much needed computer for my classroom.

I could use it as the driver of my projector, so the kids could see the math program as I teach. It would also be used by the students to get the extra help that they need, as well as allow students to take tests and quizzes. The computer program is capable of providing teachers with data to inform the teacher of the students strengths and weaknesses. I can then tailor my lesson plan to best reach all of my learners. Please help me utilize the wonderful program that is getting dusty on my shelf!
