Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is located in a large urban school district. Many of my students live in single-parent households. The majority of my students are English language learners. But do not confuse these challenges with how fantastic my students truly are! They have a thirst for knowledge and parents who are counting on me to help their children become productive citizens for our community.
Many of my students are recent immigrants.
Many have lived through the traumatic events of being uplifted from an array of 3rd world countries, to begin a new life in hopes of living the American Dream.
My Project
A color printer will provide me the ability to recognize students with colorful certificates when they demonstrate our district's nine value traits of responsibility, respect, kindness, honesty, fairness, citizenship, cooperation, integrity, and pursuit of excellence.
Further, a color printer will allow me to reach out to students and family on important school events and keep them involved.
Mental health, character education, and community involvement needs to stand out!
To help my students in their classroom, I will be providing over 500 students colored mindfulness strategy folders to help them deal not only with their academic challenges, but also the individual difficulties they are facing during Covid-19.
