A school library has to be prepared when special events or dates roll around as the students and staff will all be asking for the same books at the same time. This fall's presidential election will be one of those times that no matter how much I prepare for the requests, I might not be able to keep ahead of the demand. So this year, I am starting early, and with a little help from this community, I hope to provide our school with the much-needed resources to explore the event coming in November.
Children need to know not only the structure of the democracy in which they live, but also why their voice matters as an expression of both values and rights.
These books will help explain the basics as well as invite conversation about why we vote, how we can disagree with political opponents respectfully, and how even the youngest citizen should have the privilege of having their voice heard. Thank you for considering this request to support voting education in our school.
