Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Imagine an elementary classroom in which second-language learners feel confident and supported on the difficult journey towards English language literacy. Now imagine giving ESL students access to an exciting technology resource that they would enjoy using daily. As a third grade teacher in a Title I school serving a 40% Hispanic population, I have struggled to find quality resources to support the language and literacy development of my ESL students. The Radius Digital Learning System is an excellent resource that provides interactive audio and visual support for students as they engage with vocabulary and reading comprehension activities. This tool would allow up to four students at a time to complete content-rich lessons on CD during Literacy Center time. In order to provide this interactive learning experience for my students, I need a Radius Digital Learning System, Radius headphones with microphone, and several Radius CD cards designed to improve vocabulary, reading fluency, and comprehension. While all students will benefit from using this learning system, it will provide the unique audio visual learning support that ESL students need to be successful in the classroom.
