Using Poetry and Art to Navigate Difficult Times

My Project

Our school is the only majority black high school in our state. We also have a high level of lower income families. Between the trauma associated with those two facts and the times we live in, there is a lot to process for them.

This book and project introduces them to the power of art and poetry to claim power and initiate healing.

This is a fantastic book for reluctant readers and prolific readers alike. It is accessible and simple to grasp, but miles deep for analysis and discussion.

The final project will be to mimic the style to create their own poetic and visual piece.
