Using Podcasts to Master Oral Delivery of Research
Help me give my students a less fearful way of presenting (merely than standing in front of the class) by funding acoustic panels to complete a podcast studio for mastery of oral delivery of their research.

My Students
Do you remember standing in front of the classroom to present? We were only offered one avenue for presentation, and for some, standing in front of the classroom facing peers was scary.
Some of our students share that fear and wish for less fearful ways to demonstrate their mastery other than merely standing in front of the class.
In addition, some of these students have developed anxiety due to their "new normal" home life caused by the destruction of Hurricane Harvey in our area.
My Project
"When I am hosting, I prepare. I think things through. I consider my questions carefully to shape a conversation. I have a voice," - student podcaster. Podcasting in education is not just about voicing ideas, it also allows for critical thinking. The requested resources will allow students to design, create, produce, and disseminate high quality, student-focused content connected to curriculum and areas of interest.
It is very challenging to have students master oral delivery of their research; there has to be a more engaging and less fearful way of presenting other than merely standing in front of the class.
We view podcasts as a project akin to research papers.
But podcasts are also a story - because podcasts demand storytelling - which makes the project different from the typical research paper. There's a way to tell a story with your facts in everyday language - and that's the purpose of the podcast.
Since our students must conduct research, podcasting is the perfect opportunity to synthesize their research into an oral presentation to deepen their understanding of the difference between communicating in different mediums to global audiences while improving their media literacy.
