My pre-k classroom contains a mixture of curious and inquisitive boys and girls who come from varying cultures, backgrounds and abilities. Our school is located in a small community in an urban area, and many of my students live locally; however, I also have students who travel a distance to be part of my program.
Although the boys and girls come from a varying range of social and economic backgrounds, I want them all to have a common, great school experience.
My Project
Throughout the school year, my pre-k class is constantly using their five senses to explore everything in the classroom. My students particularly love playing with anything they can touch. Having dough, sensory dough, and sensory sand in my classroom would help my students utilize their sense of touch in a new and exciting way. My goal is to make my classroom a fun learning environment, where students look forward to coming to school and learning through play. I know that having these materials available to the children in my class will bring them one step closer to learning in a stimulating environment.
