Using Our 5 Senses to Learn and Play

My students need headphones to listen to audio on the online reading and math program iReady and recess supplies to play with in their break time.

My Students

I work in a Title I school in Orlando, Florida. Our area is a high poverty area, but my students don't let that stop them from trying their hardest to be the best they can be. My students come to school and sometimes feel that this is the only safe place for them to be. My class is filled with many first generation American students and some are the only ones that speak English in their family. Our school is on 100% free lunch and some students receive their daily three square meals from the school.

My Project

Having headphones will allow students to focus on the program's content and increase their ability to correctly answer the questions presented to them in the math and reading lessons and quizzes. With the chance to have access to recess equipment my students will be able to enjoy the fun of playing outdoors with friends in a safe environment. Recess gives them a chance to use their five senses and learn teamwork and allows them to enjoy recreational play in an institution for learning. The donation will help my students grow tremendously not only as learners, but as great citizens for the future.
