Using Music to Calm, Center, and Prepare for Success

Help me give my students a high-quality JBL sound system, calming lamps and decor, floor cushions, and fidget tools to help them regulate their emotions, take healthy breaks, and return to classwork with a focused and peaceful mind.

My Project

My students are Native American juniors and seniors navigating demanding academic expectations while carrying the unique responsibilities of their cultural and personal lives. They are motivated to succeed in college and beyond, but often need support managing the stress, anxiety, and burnout that come with high-stakes tests and daily pressures.

They’re not just preparing for exams, they are also building the resilience, focus, and emotional tools they need to thrive.

This project will create a musical calm zone within our classroom, which will help students regulate stress, improve concentration, and stay grounded throughout the school day. By using a Bluetooth sound system and a curated library of soothing music and ambient soundscapes, soft floor cushions, fidget tools, and LED lighting, I can help them refocus during study sessions and test prep, self-regulate, and reset after stressful moments or transitions.

Additionally, this space will support presentation practice, quiet reading, journaling, and moments of mindfulness, strengthening not only their academic skills but also their mental health and self-awareness.
