This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have been teaching PK through eighth grade Computer Science for thirteen years. My students are experienced and ready for more challenging STEM curriculum! Spike Prime kits engage the students and support both block based and text-based coding. Spike kits include cross-curricular science material. This years focus relates to ocean issues.

Students will sharpen their engineering and computer science skills, creating a research based innovation project, and designing, building and coding a robot.

I attended a three-day PD LEGO Education where I was awarded one LEGO Education Spike Prime kit. I need additional kits to bring physical computing to my middle school students. Donors Choose is my primary avenue to fulfill the need with our budgetary cuts for this school year.

My middle school students are excited and ready to take their computer science knowledge to the next level. Please support the development of critical thinking, collaboration, engineering, data analysis, and communication through funding of my project.
