Help me give my students iPads to record the lives of the veterans that served our great nation.

My Students
My high school offers students a plethora of educational opportunities from required courses like government and geography to elective courses such as National History Day and Project Lead the Way. NHD is a project-based learning course that also has integrated community service projects to teach students how to engage their community members and become active citizens. We work with local non-profits like the VFW and Daughters of the American Revolution to connect students to adults in their community and record their life stories.
I have 23 students in my class and 48% participate in the free and reduced lunch program.
80% of the students will be the first ones in their family to attend college. 50% of my students work a part-time job outside of school to help support their family and save money for college. These students have chosen to learn about the past in order to shape the future, they are an amazing group of students all with aspirations to improve the lives of others.
Students participate in a project-based learning curriculum that emphasizes critical reading and thinking, research, analysis, and the drawing of meaningful conclusions. In this course, students determine what they study, not the teacher!
My Project
When students can access computer-based technology, they can expand their minds and create innovative films that enhance the learning that occurs in a project-based classroom while recording the lives of the veterans that served our great nation. I would love to acquire two iPad tablets with keyboards in which students can create and film historical documentaries in collaborative groups of 3-5 students over the course of a semester. These devices will help students organize information that influences how they learn and apply new knowledge as they become self-directed learners. Making historical films offers a learner skills that many students find necessary in the 21st-century global community as they plan, assess, monitor, and reflect on their content and topic. Working in conjunction with teams using iPad tablets, students can transfer their work from Chromebooks (which can not make movies) to the iPad tablet on iMovie in an effort to construct historical documentaries and record the lives of our veterans. Essentially a more interactive learning environment is created that removes the status quo of essay writing in lieu of a more creative form of student expression through the use of state of the art technology. Students will travel to historical sites around our state and film history as they see it unfold on their Chromebooks. The teams will return to create a finished product. iPads are versatile, allowing the students to move with ease from their Chromebooks to finish their project on an iPad.
