This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a new librarian at a title one school. The kindergartens and first graders at my school have limited access to new technology. The boys and girls at my school are excited about visiting the library and using iPads to listen to and read stories.

Our school is home to over 700 students in grades Pre-K through 5th grade.

Our students come from diverse backgrounds. Some of our families face a daily struggle just to provide their family's basic needs. Every time the children enter the school library, I want them to be excited to learn about new books and technology they will encounter in the library. As a first year school librarian, I am very excited to have the opportunity to bring many positive library experiences to our school.

My Project

I am requesting junction boxes and headphones for student to use with iPads to create listening centers in the library. Students will be able to listen to and read eBooks that the school has already purchased. The Otterboxes will help to keep the iPads protected in the hands of young students.

The students are excited about using iPads in the library.

The Otterboxes will help ensure the iPads last for many years. By using the iPads as listening centers, the headphones will help the students focus on the story on their iPad and be less distracted from all the other exciting things happening in the library.
